The Empress dates to 1900 when it housed commercial operations on the first floor, and miner's lodgings upstairs. The commercial operations over the years consisted of one of the first telephone exchanges in Bisbee, early appliance store, market and grocery. In recent years, there has been a restaurant and a pottery store in the building. In the early years, the upstairs housed 10 (5 on each side of a center hall) miner's lodging rooms. This was an ideal location due the Empress being directly across from The Queen Mine. This property is ideal as owner live-in and rent the balance, or an Airbnb operation. All units have been thoroughly renovated. Kitchens, bathrooms, appliances, all water and sewer lines, all electrical & fixtures. Each unit was renovated permitted and inspected.
